Gate Remixing - remix loops and effects in real time with MIDI-triggered gates
Gate Remixing (also called gate slicing or MIDI slicing) is a workflow created by Liveschool that turns humble noise gates into a flexible way to remix loops in real time, for production or performance. Instead of slicing a loop into one fixed edit, all your loops keep playing underneath. Each gate is sidechained to a white-noise trigger, so a MIDI clip decides which fragments come through, and when.
The pack contains two workflows, across four Live Sets.
Gate Remixing mixes multiple loops together in creative ways. Draw notes into the Triggers track and fragments of eight different loops recombine into a new groove. Change the notes for a different remix, or write new clips for endless variations. Velocities control the volume of each loop, so the edits stay dynamic.
Gate FX mixes multiple audio effects on any loop. One loop keeps playing while MIDI notes bring in reverbs, delays, resonators and stutters, in whatever rhythm you play. Same trick, different result: rhythmic, performable FX rather than a loop collage.
Both workflows are playable from Push or any MIDI controller, and each set has a Resampling track ready to capture your favourite take.
