Song Starters by Setwun
A full Ableton Live project of breaks, percussion and musical ideas, built to get you from a blank set to a real groove in minutes. Made by Sydney producer, multi-instrumentalist and Liveschool trainer Josh Molony, every sound was recorded and programmed by hand for a loose, human feel you can chop, stretch and reshape into your own tracks.
What's inside:
- 45 home-recorded drum breaks, each labelled with its original tempo
- 19 percussion tops - shakers, hats, rides and movement
- 19 melodic ideas - piano, Rhodes and synth sketches
- Custom Drum Tool rack - transient shaping, low-end weight, tone, saturation, drive and echo in one hands-on rack, built from native Ableton devices
- Drum and harmony slicers - pre-configured Simplers for chopping and rebuilding ideas
The breaks bring the character; the Drum Tool lets you tighten, brighten, grit up or dub them out on the fly; and the slicers turn any loop or phrase into something completely new. Designed to work together straight away, but built to be pulled apart.
About Setwun
Setwun is the project of Sydney producer, multi-instrumentalist and Liveschool trainer Josh Molony. His music sits between live musicianship and electronic production, drawing on jazz, broken beat, house, soul and sample-based workflows, and that same capture-the-feeling-first approach runs through every sound in this project.
